Origin Story
I adopted Jonathan on August 31, 2018 in Mishawaka, IN. He was rescued from Hazard, KY and brought up to Indiana by Heartland Small Animal Rescue. His estimated birth date is August 1, 2015. Jonathan was believed to be part Chihuahua and part papillon.
Jonathan was featured on the cut, in their story, “how are we dressing our dogs for halloween?” in 2018.
In December 2019, I was gifted a dog DNA kit to use on Jonathan and was very surprised by the results! Jonathan is in fact not part papillon (or maybe a very teeny bit)! Obviously he is mostly chihuahua, but those trademark ears were likely been passed down to him by a Yorkshire terrier and his cute little snout probably comes from a fox terrier.
